As I write this I\u2019ve JUST finished packing my bags for another trip.<\/p>\n

In the last *3 months* I\u2019ve flown around the world and back from Australia – taking in Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney\u2026<\/p>\n

\u2026I\u2019ve travelled from San Diego (Ca) to Myrtle Beach (SC) – and back (the WIDTH of the US) – and I\u2019m today preparing for another long flight to Orlando (Via London) before heading to Miami and Nashville and back home.<\/p>\n

(Inside 7 days).<\/p>\n

It\u2019s gunna\u2019 be a wild few days.<\/p>\n

BUT, I\u2019m EXCITED as hell for it! \ud83d\ude09<\/p>\n

Tomorrow I\u2019m flying \u201csolo\u201d\u2026<\/p>\n

(No family this time).<\/p>\n

\"Playing<\/a><\/p>\n

Too short of a trip that doesn\u2019t give Harry (my two year old) a chance to get over the \u201cjet lag\u201d before we\u2019d have to fly back.<\/p>\n

Now, whenever I\u2019m about to leave town (flying solo) the topic of conversation is always about \u201cwill I miss Harry?\u201d.<\/p>\n

My answer:<\/p>\n

\u201cMore than I could\u00a0ever tell you\u201d.<\/strong><\/p>\n

When I drive away from the house in the morning, it will be PAINFUL!<\/p>\n

Knowing that I\u2019m not going to get to read him his bed time story – or hear him laugh out loud for a whole 7 days – is not nice.<\/p>\n

But here\u2019s the thing:<\/p>\n

I always think LONG-TERM. <\/strong><\/p>\n

In business, and as a parent.<\/p>\n

With \u201cHarry\u201d, I know the day will come very soon where he\u2019ll ask me for some advice on what he should do with his life.<\/p>\n

Instead of being a parent who tells him to \u201clive his dreams\u201d\u2026<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u2026I want to be a parent who \u201cSHOWS\u201d him how to do it.<\/p>\n

(Big difference).<\/p>\n

So as I leave him tomorrow morning I know that the short term pain I\u2019m going to \u201cfeel\u201d – as I close the door on his bedroom at 4.30am – will one day be worth it.<\/p>\n

It may be a few years down the line\u2026<\/p>\n

\u2026but that day is coming where he\u2019ll need my help to make decisions that\u2019ll help shape the rest of his life\u2026<\/p>\n

\u2026much more than he needs me this week to \u201cjust be there\u201d.<\/p>\n

What\u2019s this got to do with business?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Everything.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Business is no different\u2026<\/strong><\/p>\n

It\u2019s always, always, always\u2026 about the LONG-BALL GAME.<\/p>\n

Too many people out there in PT Land are focusing on how their business looks TODAY – and not how they want it to look in the long run.<\/p>\n

Waiting for the phone to ring or hoping for a referral from a doctor to arrive \u201cTODAY\u201d – is living \u201cday-to-day\u201d.<\/p>\n

Walking into your PT clinic and checking the stats on the number of new \u201cleads\u201d you picked up over the weekend via your \u201cMarketing Automation\u201d is focusing long term.<\/p>\n

Understanding that a “truck-load” of people in your community need what you do – want what you do – but just don\u2019t know enough to confidently say “YES” to paying for help is you \u201cstarting\u201d to think about your business long term.<\/p>\n

Setting up the appropriate \u201cnurture systems\u201d to help those people make the right decision, faster, is you PROVING that you\u2019re in it for the long haul.<\/p>\n

(What will you check today? ;-))<\/p>\n

Last things last:<\/p>\n

As I board my flight tomorrow – it\u2019s made easier knowing that the SYSTEMS I set up in my business 3 years ago are powering my clinic today.<\/p>\n

I can\u2019t imagine ever returning to a world where I rely upon staff or \u201cprocedures that are kept only in my head\u201d…<\/p>\n

\u2026meaning that as soon as my plane touches down I\u2019d be having to take an international call from one of the girls in my office asking:<\/p>\n

\u201cPaul, how do we do\u2026\u201d.<\/p>\n

Those days are long gone.<\/p>\n

My business is built for scale\u2026<\/p>\n

Built to last\u2026<\/p>\n

And, most importantly of all\u2026<\/p>\n

Built to let me go and live my dreams\u2026<\/p>\n

\u2026Meaning when *THAT* conversation arises (with \u201cHarry\u201d)\u2026<\/p>\n

\u2026I\u2019m able to look him square in the eyes and tell him precisely how I did what I\u2019m telling him to go and do next.<\/p>\n

(…Live HIS dreams!).<\/p>\n
