Story time:<\/p>\n

So yesterday I did the traditional Sunday afternoon thing and took my family for a good-old fashioned, English \u201cSunday roast\u201d.<\/p>\n

After spending 8 weeks travelling across the US – eating out most evenings and dining at some very \u201cauthentic\u201d fine cuisine places\u2026<\/p>\n

\u2026it\u2019s been nice to get back to \u201cfish and chips\u201d and a \u201cSunday Roast with beef and Yorkshire pudding\u201d.<\/p>\n

(Proper English delicacies that you\u2019ll have to try when you come over here some time to visit \ud83d\ude09<\/p>\n

So yesterday, we went to a restaurant that I\u2019d been to before\u2026<\/p>\n

A place that provides EXCEPTIONAL FOOD\u2026<\/strong><\/p>\n

Provides AMAZINGLY GOOD SERVICE\u2026<\/strong><\/p>\n

And, DELIVERS<\/strong> on all of it\u2019s promises.<\/p>\n

But, also a place that inserts a \u201c$8.50\u201d plate charge for a \u201c2\u201d year old boy who, at most, had three small potatoes and a little bit of his Mammy\u2019s pudding at the end.<\/p>\n

We didn\u2019t see that one coming!<\/strong> <\/em><\/p>\n

The real impact of that \u201c$8.50\u201d charge?<\/p>\n

I\u2019d say \u201c$1000\u2019s\u201d LOST in future revenue.<\/p>\n

And here\u2019s why: <\/strong><\/p>\n

\"look<\/a>
\nSee, I was happy to pay the \u201c$8.50\u201d\u2026<\/p>\n

But my girlfriend wasn\u2019t\u2026<\/p>\n

Neither was my Mother\u2026<\/p>\n

And, neither was my Grandmother.<\/p>\n

They just couldn\u2019t see it\u2026<\/p>\n

Now obviously, I\u2019m in business, so I accept that a business has to make a living by selling things to consumers – no matter what age – and if people are bringing their kids in, however old, then they should pay!<\/p>\n

Fairs fair.<\/p>\n

I\u2019m talking from a place of \u201clogic\u201d and \u201creason\u201d\u2026<\/p>\n

But, the average \u201cconsumer\u201d – who walks in there and feeds their kids one or two items off of their plate – isn\u2019t.<\/p>\n

They\u2019re FAR from it.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s aaaaaaaaall emotional – which is not always good for business!<\/strong><\/p>\n

So here\u2019s what happened next:<\/p>\n

Natalie, my Mother, and my Grandmother each spent the whole day telling EVERYONE how \u201cBAD\u201d that restaurant was.<\/strong><\/p>\n

And I mean, EVERYONE.<\/p>\n

This being despite the fact that the service was incredible and the food just as good.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The conversation was ALL about what they made us pay for Harry\u2026<\/p>\n

\u2026not what they did for us or how nice it was!<\/p>\n

The point I\u2019m trying to make?<\/p>\n

There are a lot of \u201cstupid\u201d business owners out there\u2026<\/p>\n

Even though I can\u2019t help but think that he was RIGHT to charge us\u2026<\/p>\n

…in theory…<\/p>\n

…most EMOTIONAL consumers would never agree!<\/p>\n

He positioned it all wrong and probably is riding high on his EGO – dining out on it – thinking that he’s right.<\/p>\n

Maybe.<\/p>\n

But but he is paying no attention to the DAMAGE it\u2019s so obviously going to do to his restaurant – in the long run.<\/p>\n

If my table was talking about it\u2026<\/p>\n

\u2026how many other tables has it happened to since that place has been open?<\/p>\n

Consumers are VERY predictable and all our emotional hot buttons are in the same place, pushed by the same act of “stupidity”.<\/p>\n

And it doesn\u2019t get much more emotional than when “kids” are involved.<\/p>\n

The next point??<\/p>\n

There is nothing more suicidal in business that an owner caught up inside his own ego\u2026<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u2026relying so much on his product and service that he NEGLECTS to consider how his words and actions influence what people say, think and feel.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Most restaurant businesses are NOT struggling because of a bad economy\u2026<\/p>\n

\u2026AND, most PT businesses are not struggling because of a lack of referrals from doctors\u2026<\/p>\n

\u2026they struggle quite simply because the owner is far too focused on the PRODUCT.<\/strong><\/p>\n

On being the \u201cnext best\u201d and greatest ever PT that there\u2019s ever been.<\/p>\n

Want to know the recipe for long-lasting success in ANY ECONOMY?<\/p>\n

Become TRULY world class at being \u201cconsumer centric\u201d.<\/p>\n

The rewards will ALWAYS go to the business owner who is OBSESSED with figuring out how customers think and feel\u2026<\/p>\n

\u2026and how to get them to think and feel more favourable about their product or service.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s not about your new exercises or your latest techniques\u2026<\/p>\n

They only get you so far.<\/p>\n

And it explains why so many PT\u2019s are working harder at their \u201cPT skills\u201d or putting out more \u201cadvice on Youtube\u201d\u2026<\/p>\n

\u2026yet falling further and further behind when it comes to keeping up with their income and lifestyle goals.<\/p>\n

Thankfully, MOST PT\u2019s don\u2019t agree with me on stuff like this\u2026<\/p>\n

\u2026which makes it easier for the rest of us to be successful! \ud83d\ude09<\/p>\n
