Hear me out…<\/p>\n

So I spent the weekend in North Scottsdale, Phoenix…<\/p>\n

I\u2019m here spending time in the clinics of some awesome PT\u2019s that I\u2019m helping to move forward with their business\u2026<\/p>\n

On Saturday<\/span><\/span>, I took a \u201chike\u201d to the top of \u201cSouth Mountain\u201d with some of my team who are here with me:<\/p>\n

\"unnamed\"<\/a><\/p>\n

I always find that when I\u2019m doing something \u201cphysical\u201d like hiking up a mountain, the conversation gets REAL!<\/strong><\/p>\n

And this \u201chike\u201d was no exception.<\/p>\n

As we climbed, I spoke about the growing number of businesses being run by \u201chypocrites\u201d.<\/p>\n

Why \u201chypocrites\u201d?\u2026<\/p>\n

Because the owners live their life one way,\u00a0but run their business another!<\/strong><\/p>\n

Let me give you an example of what I mean:<\/p>\n

I don\u2019t know you from this far\u2026<\/p>\n

But I bet you RARELY, if ever, make impulsive decisions about buying something that costs more than $500 (…the average cost of PT these days factoring in co-pay and deductibles).<\/p>\n

If you saw an advert today for a weekend vacation, a new TV, a new kitchen table, a watch, or anything else in that price bracket, EVEN IF you wanted it or needed it today, chances are you wouldn\u2019t rush out and buy it on a whim.<\/p>\n

I\u2019d wager that what would likely happen is that you\u2019d have your attention<\/strong> \u201csnagged\u201d\u2026<\/p>\n

Your interest \u201cheightened\u201d.<\/p>\n

And, you\u2019d maybe head on over to the website or down to the store to ask one or two questions that would likely advance the sale\u2026\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

If you went to the store, you\u2019d probably want to spend at least 20-30 minutes with the sales representative to ask some questions about the new TV you were considering – just to make sure it is going to be right for you.<\/p>\n

In essence, you\u2019ve already decided to buy, but what you\u2019re looking for is someone to help validate that decision so that you can be confident<\/strong> in handing over the $500 the store is asking in exchange for the TV.<\/p>\n

You know what else might happen?\u2026<\/p>\n

You might ask for 24-48 hours to think on it<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

To way up your options\u2026<\/p>\n

To talk it over with someone at home and consider the VALUE of the proposed TV while in the comfort of your own home – a safe place to make good decisions – before handing over the credit card.<\/p>\n

In reality, this whole process could take 2-3 weeks.<\/p>\n

(If not longer).<\/p>\n

Maybe even 2-3 visits to the store to pick up the remote and play with the TV so you can get a feeling of what that new TV might look like in your front room\u2026<\/p>\n

\u2026even begin to think about if this purchase might make “Monday<\/span><\/span> Night Football” (or whatever you love to watch) an even better experience for you and the family.<\/p>\n

And when you get to THAT point, guess what you do next?<\/p>\n

That\u2019s right, you BUY<\/strong>!<\/p>\n

Now contrast that with what is happening at most PT clinics today\u2026<\/p>\n

Where\u2019s the provision to help someone who thinks and acts just like you – make that same decision – over a period of weeks?<\/p>\n

For most, it’s non-existent.<\/p>\n

It’s all “book now” OR “download your forms here”…<\/p>\n

If people make decisions like the process I’ve just\u00a0described, what makes PT Owners think that running\u00a0an \u201cad\u201d that announces:<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m a physical therapist,\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

call me today\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

\u2026is ever going to work?<\/p>\n

It never will.<\/p>\n

But it continues to happen for two reasons:\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

The first is \u201carrogance\u201d.<\/p>\n

Many PT\u2019s are literally drowning in their own self-importance and think they\u2019re too busy to help their patients UNLESS they\u2019re getting paid.<\/p>\n

(Actions speak louder than words!)<\/p>\n

The second is \u201cnaivety\u201d – because despite years of medical school training, most PT\u2019s have neglected to ever consider the most fundamental aspect of every successful business – PEOPLE<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

And most people rarely make good decisions on impulse.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

In fact, by the time they hit \u201c40\u201d\u2026<\/p>\n

\u2026 most people have made so many bad ones<\/strong>, they\u2019re *paralytic* with fear about making another one that they make no-decision at all – even if they\u2019ve got chronic low-back pain. \u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

Want to know how to spot if you\u2019re being a \u201chypocrite\u201d?<\/p>\n

It\u2019s easy\u2026<\/p>\n

Look on your clinics website right now\u2026<\/p>\n

If it\u2019s the \u201cME, ME, ME\u201d<\/em><\/strong> show – a website focused on you and your great service and qualifications (and not helping the consumer make better decisions) – then you too, are likely to be guilty of living one way, but running your business the other.<\/p>\n

Anyhow\u2026<\/p>\n

Rant over.<\/p>\n

If you\u2019re ready to leave the \u201cme, me, me\u201d show behind\u2026<\/p>\n

\u2026and head in a new direction that sees you begin to help people BEFORE you get paid for services\u2026<\/p>\n

I\u2019ve been doing the “GIVE BEFORE I GET” thing for years now\u2026<\/p>\n

It seems that the more that I give, the more that I get.<\/p>\n

\u201cJee\u201d\u2026<\/p>\n

A business owner who\u2019s successful because he DOESN\u2019T focus on the almighty dollar.<\/p>\n

Go figure.<\/p>\n
