Comes a question last night from a PT Entrepreneur in my *paid for* Facebook support group:<\/p>\n

\u201cPaul\u2026 my biggest challenge lately has been attendance and compliance with therapy. We have a high \u201cchronic pain\u201d population. <\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

I heard somewhere that if the patient cancels often, they they are not valuing our therapy. That has stuck with me. I (and my staff) are working hard to make our clinic more of an \u201cexperience\u201d as opposed to just coming in and doing exercises.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

My answer??<\/p>\n

There\u2019s SO MANY ways to stop this I\u2019m not sure where to start\u2026<\/p>\n

Oh yes I do. It\u2019s here:<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s NOT the patients job to see the value in therapy\u201d.<\/strong><\/p>\n

It\u2019s OUR job to MAKE them see the value.<\/strong><\/p>\n

How do you do that?<\/p>\n

Easy.<\/p>\n

\"Patient<\/a>
\nGo right back to the interaction you have with them at their first phone call\u2026<\/p>\n

\u2026start by spending twice (maybe three times) as much time as you originally did to ensure you asked the right questions to determine you\u2019re a good fit\u2026<\/p>\n

And if you REALLY wanted to do it right\u2026<\/p>\n

\u2026take it even further back by inspecting the \u201cmessage\u201d you have on your website.<\/p>\n

Do you even have one??<\/strong><\/p>\n

If both of those things don\u2019t clearly align with THEIR values, they won\u2019t care.<\/p>\n

And, unfortunately, it really has nothing to do with asking people to \u201csign their life away\u201d at the first evaluation.<\/p>\n

Getting people to sign ANOTHER agreement after the evaluation to \u201ccommit\u201d to your care plan is just a way to cover up POOR communication and influence skills – and often frightens patients more than motivates them!<\/p>\n

(Do you like signing for things? – nor do they!) <\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

But here\u2019s the thing:<\/p>\n

The problem of getting people to show up for sessions is only going to get harder – and will be soon preceded by the REAL problem of actually getting people to show up at a PT clinic at all.<\/p>\n

Want to know why??<\/p>\n

We\u2019re moving into a completely new economy.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s called the \u201ccollaboration\u201d economy.<\/p>\n

There\u2019s a pattern emerging of companies teaming up to \u201ccross provide\u201d a better, more efficient service that may mean a lot of companies will get overlooked.<\/p>\n

(Like smaller sized PT clinics).<\/p>\n

An example?<\/p>\n

Hospital Systems buying out doctor offices<\/strong> to access their data base and streamline services.<\/p>\n

Those bigger hospitals can afford to run their PT clinics with an average visit of 3-4 sessions because they\u2019ll make their money if and when that client needs something more costly and profitable – like surgery.<\/p>\n

They play a long ball game.<\/p>\n

How the world does business is evolving all the time.<\/p>\n

And, I happen to think it\u2019s \u201cgreat\u201d.<\/p>\n

It makes it harder and harder for my competitors who won\u2019t want to keep up\u2026<\/p>\n

Who spend more time \u201cmassaging their ego\u201d than figuring out new ways of streamlining processes to make a bigger profit, DESPITE of the changes.<\/p>\n

Over to you\u2026<\/p>\n

How will you deal with the changes??<\/p>\n

And, do you want to know the the easiest way to stay ahead of your competitors and get the life you want from growing that business you\u2019ve got??<\/p>\n

Here it is:<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cGet in a \u201cpeer group\u201d of people so desperate to NOT to be held back that they\u2019re prepared to pay for (with real money) – and then take action on – advice that they\u2019re being given from people living the life and running businesses, they secretly want\u201d.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s THAT simple.<\/p>\n

And, usually much cheaper than the $100,000 you likely spent to get through PT school.<\/p>\n
