\u201cHow do you make patients want to buy from you<\/em>
\n again once their PT is complete?\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

\"How<\/a><\/p>\n

Simple.<\/p>\n

Think \u201cDisney\u201d<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

How many people go to Disney World and actually plan on spending the often obscene amount that they do??<\/p>\n

Ask yourself why is it that Mickey Mouse and Goofy have zero problems extracting $1000 or more dollars from an average family purse for toys, candy, memorabilia and even pictures (they can take on their smart phones) that they don\u2019t really need\u2026<\/p>\n

\u2026yet the average PT has a problem getting some of his patients to the 12 visits they need to ease low-back pain, let alone sell them on a cash pay up sell??<\/p>\n

The answer, my Dear Watson, is this:<\/p>\n

The decision to buy from you a second time, is actually made at the same time as they\u2019re buying from you the first time!<\/span><\/p>\n

If what they see on your website, your marketing material, hear when your receptionist picks up the phone or responds to an enquiry is answering their concerns in a manner that no one else ever has, then moving them into a cash pay service on the back end of PT is something that they will WANT to know more about.<\/p>\n

The problem that most PT\u2019s have is that in their desperate need to \u201csell\u201d<\/strong> something to ensure a profit\u2026<\/p>\n

\u2026they\u2019re so obsessed with the \u201cthing\u201d<\/strong>, the price of the thing and offering the thing, they\u2019ve neglected to think about how the consumer sees they place they\u2019re buying it from.<\/p>\n

If the patient didn\u2019t feel from Day 1 that this place is \u201cthe only place in town that\u2019s perfect for them\u201d, then it\u2019s almost IMPOSSIBLE to make happen.<\/p>\n

No matter how good the system is, OR, even how needed the actual cash pay service is.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s a bitter pill for a lot of owners to swallow.<\/p>\n

And leaves them with just two excuses:<\/p>\n

1.) We tried, but no body buys stuff like that around here<\/p>\n

2.) They\u2019ve got no money (\u2026That\u2019s coz they\u2019re spending it with someone else who REALLY gets them!).<\/p>\n

Either way, you ain\u2019t gettin\u2019 any of their hard earned cash.<\/p>\n

So the answer to the problem?<\/p>\n

Drum roll\u2026.<\/p>\n

\u201cMarketing\u201d.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Specifically, influencing what your potential customers say and think about you and your service BEFORE they\u2019ve even bought from you the first time.<\/p>\n

If it\u2019s a transactional business you want\u2026 that might do \u201cok\u201d\u2026 keep on advertising your self as a \u201cphysical therapist with 10 years experience\u201d and labelling yourself as being proud to offer \u201cgreat customer service\u201d\u2026<\/p>\n

However\u2026<\/p>\n

If you want to give yourself the chance of a few \u201cDisney\u201d style up sells and having consumers happy to buy things like massage services and pilates classes (\u2026at premium prices, in cash!), may I suggest you start buying up some space in the local newspapers and begin to advertise solutions to REAL problems.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Explaining that you know how to help people live a life with less dependency upon pills, is to the 60 year old with back pain what a new \u201cHarry Potter\u201d ride is to a Dad and his 8 year old son.<\/p>\n

They\u2019re going to be happy and WANT to spend money to experience it the moment they see it advertised on the TV.<\/p>\n
