This is for PT\u2019s who don\u2019t get as many referrals from happy patients as they think they should. <\/p>\n

You know how it goes\u2026<\/p>\n

Patient comes to see you with a problem and within a few weeks you\u2019ve solved it. <\/p>\n

You take them (with your PT skills) from a deep, dark, turbulent place where life is painful and restricted\u2026<\/p>\n

\u2026over to a much nicer place, where the sun shines and the water is clear and calm. <\/p>\n

And by the end of their \u201cPOC\u201d, they\u2019re telling you how happy they are with your service. <\/p>\n

That they\u2019ll tell everyone about what you do. <\/p>\n

How great you are. <\/p>\n

And that they even have one or two friends who they\u2019re going to tell should come and see you. <\/p>\n

But do they come? <\/p>\n

Not always. <\/p>\n

In fact, I\u2019d wager that if you worked out the number of people who your happy patients tell about you Vs the ratio who actually call you, the numbers would be below 1%. <\/p>\n

So how come? <\/p>\n

Simples. <\/p>\n

Telling people to go some where like a PT clinic comes at a high risk. <\/p>\n

What if it affects their friendship if it goes wrong? <\/p>\n

What if they don\u2019t get as good a result? <\/p>\n

What if they say the WRONG things about what you really do? <\/p>\n

(PT is painful at times remember!)\u2026<\/p>\n

But the big thing, is this:<\/p>\n

After they leave your care, the level of \u201clove\u201d and motivation that they have to want to please you, significantly drops. <\/p>\n

Very easy for someone who\u2019s leaving your care on high at the end of their session to promise they\u2019ll return the favour and help you out. <\/p>\n

Thing is, we\u2019re often a \u201cfickle\u201d and \u201cforgetful\u201d bunch. <\/p>\n

Life transpires to get in the way of our good intentions. <\/p>\n

The solution? <\/p>\n

Make it easy for past patients to refer people to you for \u201cinformation\u201d.<\/p>\n

Helpful, tips or advice based information that lets you begin a relationship with your patients friends or families, first. <\/p>\n

Create a system in your clinic that ensures all patients are able to, at the very least, tell their friends about where to get reliable information on \u201cback pain\u201d (\u2026or whatever). <\/p>\n

Being the \u201cgo-to\u201d place for trusted information is an easier thing for your past patients to tell their friends about than telling them to call to make an appointment. <\/p>\n

And for many of the same reasons why this type of thing works to attract completely new patients to your clinic (from media like Facebook and Postcards), it sure works just as well (if not better) for getting referrals from past patients. <\/p>\n

Sure\u2026 your current referrals will still continue to come in. <\/p>\n

But this will give them a significant boost. <\/p>\n

Which would be nice, right?<\/p>\n
