height: 24px;\"><\/div>\n        <\/div>\n    <\/div>\n<\/div>\n                \n\n<div class=\"kksr-legend\" style=\"font-size: 19.2px;\">\n            5\/5 - (1 vote)    <\/div>\n    <\/div>\n<p>\u201cSuccess in PT is about giving people what they want\u201d\u2026<\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s what one (awesome) PT told me this week during a strategy call. <\/p>\n<p>Would you agree?<br \/>\n.<br \/>\n.<br \/>\n.<br \/>\n.<\/p>\n<p>Maybe?<\/p>\n<p>I didn\u2019t. <\/p>\n<p>Not one bit. <\/p>\n<p>See, I\u2019m 110% convinced that most patients have no clue what so ever why they\u2019re coming for therapy. <\/p>\n<p>(Hence why so many are so difficult to keep on schedule!)<\/p>\n<p>And I say this in my own clinic, to my own staff, that it\u2019s the job of the therapist to clearly determine the \u201cwhy\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Sure, they\u2019ll tell you it\u2019s for back pain etc etc, but it\u2019s much more than that. <\/p>\n<p>Way more. <\/p>\n<p>Let me explain it like this:<\/p>\n<p>You walk into a TV store at your local shopping mall&#8230; and you\u2019re ADAMANT that you want a 42\u201d, Sony Plasma TV&#8230;  <\/p>\n<p>And that your budget is $1000. <\/p>\n<p>Now what will happen is that MOST sales people, will sell it to you. <\/p>\n<p>Why wouldn\u2019t they?<\/p>\n<p>You told them that\u2019s what you want. <\/p>\n<p>But, what if the sales person stopped to ask you just a couple of questions BEFORE the purchase\u2026<\/p>\n<p>Just to make REAL sure that you\u2019re going to get what you really NEED!\u2026<\/p>\n<p>(Not just what you currently think you want!). <\/p>\n<p>Questions like:<\/p>\n<p>* \u201cDo your kids like to play video games, Sir?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>* \u201cDo you like to watch action movies and have the volume up loud?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Or, <\/p>\n<p>* \u201cDo you love to watch baseball and NFL\u2026  and is watching it in the clearest possible picture, really important to you?\u201d\u2026<\/p>\n<p>And once he has the answers to those questions\u2026<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s then HIS job&#8230; as the expert on selling TV\u2019s.. to ETHICALLY tell the customer that the purchase he\u2019s about to make, isn\u2019t the one he needs. <\/p>\n<p>Even, tell the customer that he\u2019d be much better off ordering the panasonic TV with surround sound and HD, that is $400 more expensive&#8230; <\/p>\n<p>But if he did, he would leave the shop a LOT happier &#8211; even though he paid MORE!\u2026 <\/p>\n<p>The point? <\/p>\n<p>As therapists we ASSUME that what patients want, is what they tell us. <\/p>\n<p>The problem is, they have no idea what we can REALLY do for them. <\/p>\n<p>Just like the guy in this story wanting a new tv\u2026 <\/p>\n<p>\u2026he would have no clue that there is a specialist TV for his needs &#8211; or given any though to what his REAL needs are &#8211; as the average consumer assumes they\u2019re all the same. <\/p>\n<p>(How most people see PT).<\/p>\n<p>Yet when it\u2019s pointed out that more specialist options exist &#8211; ones to suit is CORE desires and based on a TRUE understanding of the customer &#8211; the more he is happy to PAY. <\/p>\n<p>The relevance to you and your team?\u2026<\/p>\n<p>Learn how to ask the RIGHT questions. <\/p>\n<p>Spend an extra minute really trying to GET the people you serve at their core level. <\/p>\n<p>Then offer *specialist* PT solutions to your now emotionally charged patients.<\/p>\n<p>Figure out how&#8230;
