Today I\u2019m going to talk to you about one reason why most PT\u2019s never make the \u201cCash riches\u201d they could.<\/p>\n

And it has a lot to with how they view the people they serve.<\/p>\n

In particular, I\u2019ve picked on a word that PT\u2019s will nearly always use that is \u201ckilling\u201d their attempts to attract people who will happily pay high prices in cash.<\/p>\n

And, it\u2019s the use of the word \u201cpatient\u201d in their communication.<\/p>\n

Now, let\u2019s think about it for a few moments:<\/p>\n

When you think about a \u201cpatient\u201d – you immediately conjure up an image of a person who is sick, helpless and unable to help themselves whilst they are waiting for a Doctor to prescribe some more medication.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Does that sound like any of the people who actively or willingly come and see you at your PT clinic?<\/p>\n

The very mindset it creates means they see themselves as helpless and wanting to be helped by an Insurance company or government to fund treatment on their behalf.<\/p>\n

And it\u2019s a shift in thinking that you\u2019re going to need to make if you really want to crack the case on packing your schedule with high paying cash only \u201cclients\u201d.<\/p>\n

And it\u2019s simply because \u201cpatients\u201d don\u2019t ever think that they have to pay for their treatment and that the government or their insurance company, will, whenever they get sick.<\/p>\n

At my PT clinic, which is primarily for \u201cactive and healthy people\u201d who just happen to have some type of knee pain, or an inconvenient case of Sciatica, we call them \u201cclients\u201d.<\/p>\n

Why?<\/p>\n

Because \u201cclients\u201d are happy to pay for you to serve their needs.<\/p>\n

They aren\u2019t helpless or sick and nor do they want you to suggest that they are.<\/p>\n

If they\u2019re going out of their way to go and see a PT, there\u2019s a BIG chance that they consider them as active and healthy.<\/p>\n

As soon as you call them a \u201cpatient\u201d, you remind them that an insurance company or the government COULD be taking care of them (for free).<\/p>\n

\u201cWhich is fine\u201d!<\/p>\n

But not if you want to run a cash based clinic packed full of people who consult you for your expert advice, expect you to protect them from in-activity and help them over their current health \u201cobstacle\u201d.<\/p>\n

(Which for most, is all that it is).<\/p>\n

Sure, in certain PT settings it might be \u201cok\u201d to use the word \u201cpatient\u201d, and some people are rightly classed as \u201cpatients\u201d, but for most, it\u2019s wrong and in my honest humble opinion, it\u2019s lazy and disrespectful of PT\u2019s to do it.<\/p>\n

Most of the people you will ever work with and help are not needy enough that you have to patronise or pander to their \u201cill health\u201d.<\/p>\n

And they don\u2019t want o be remind that they are \u201csick and helpless\u201d each time you use the word \u201cpatient\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cClients\u201d will have a much stronger affinity to you and what you do for them and an immediate shift in how they see you and what you will be made – making it easier and more likely that they are in a place which is different (to all the others PT\u2019s) and one which can rightly ask for cash payments.<\/p>\n

Which would be nice right?<\/p>\n

Anyhow. That\u2019s enough about \u201cpatients\u201d.<\/p>\n

Let\u2019s find you some more \u201cclients\u201d who are happy to pay what you ask.<\/p>\n
