we get emotionally attached and worry that people will say \u2018no\u2019 to paying what we really want to charge.<\/p>\n<p>But there\u2019s a way around that &#8211; <strong>GREAT Marketing<\/strong> (and continued investment in your clinic Marketing)<\/p>\n<p>Which is why your <strong>Message to Market match<\/strong> is so vital\u2026<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s the job of your Marketing to attract your perfect patients to your clinic with messages that resonate with them so powerfully, that they wouldn\u2019t ever dare risk going anywhere else.<\/p>\n<p>Get that right and you\u2019ll be able to charge more than your competition.<\/p>\n<h2>#2 Patients Really CAN Afford Your Fees<\/h2>\n<p>A lot of business owners face people telling them <strong><em>\u2018they can\u2019t afford their fees\u2019<\/em> <\/strong>&#8211; it happens in every industry, in every town\u2026<\/p>\n<p>And unfortunately it\u2019s happening more and MORE in the PT industry, especially as the cost of health care rises!<\/p>\n<p>So do you have to suffer?<strong> Nope!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This is another reason why investing in your clinics Marketing is KEY to being more profitable\u2026 If more people know who you are, and more people want to do business with you, then essentially you\u2019ll have a steady stream of people lining up in your waiting room &#8211; <strong>so you can confidently raise your prices.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>(And not live in fear of losing one or two people just because you\u2019re charging a higher fee).<\/p>\n<h2><strong>#3 Selling Is An Exchange Of Value<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>When you can get your customers to understand the value of what you\u2019re selling (the benefit to them of a monthly massage, or maintenance Physical Therapy) they will be <strong>more inclined to spend money with you.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>If you don\u2019t present the value to them on a sliver plate <strong>over and over and over again<\/strong> &#8211; we\u2019ve just been conditioned to believe it&#8217;s true.<\/p>\n<p>If people bought primarily on price, <strong>we\u2019d be driving the cheapest, oldest cars,<\/strong> we\u2019d never eat out in restaurants, very few people would own iPhones or iPads.<\/p>\n<p>Again, this is why we need provide value up front (over and over again), and give them tons of information first &#8211; <strong>then they&#8217;ll be happy to exchange $1000 to do business with us.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h2>#5 Remove The \u2018Professional Ego\u2019<\/h2>\n<p>And I mean this with total respect\u2026<\/p>\n<p>\u2026As PT business owners we\u2019ve got to throw our ego under the bus otherwise it can stand in the way of having a conversation about the value of what you\u2019re providing with someone who questions price.<\/p>\n<p>This is the reason <strong>WHY I do free telephone consultations\u2026<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>WHY I hold free \u2018discovery visits\u2019\u2026<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Because these free options I give to people, who need to know more before they say \u2018yes\u2019 to my services, don\u2019t cost me money, <strong>they make me money in the long-run.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ptprofitacademy.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/Screen-Shot-2016-11-07-at-10.48.05.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-1304 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ptprofitacademy.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/Screen-Shot-2016-11-07-at-10.48.05.png\" alt=\"screen-shot-2016-11-07-at-10-48-05\" width=\"492\" height=\"144\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.ptprofitacademy.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/Screen-Shot-2016-11-07-at-10.48.05.png 492w, https:\/\/www.ptprofitacademy.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/Screen-Shot-2016-11-07-at-10.48.05-300x88.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 492px) 100vw, 492px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h2>#6 The Wrong Way To Set Prices<\/h2>\n<p>One of the big mistakes a lot of Physical Therapists make when it comes to setting their prices <strong>is that they either:&#8230;<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Look at their competition and base their pricing on the average (who wants to be average?!)<\/li>\n<li>OR they pull a number out of thin air that THEY are comfortable with.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>BIG mistake<\/strong> &#8211; these pricing strategies are what will keep you from making a profit and charging what you deserve.<\/p>\n<p>Which brings me onto this:<\/p>\n<h2>#7 The Best Person To Decide What You Charge<\/h2>\n<p>And nope, <strong>it\u2019s not you<\/strong> &#8211; in fact, you\u2019re the WORST person to decide what to charge.<\/p>\n<p>Simply because you\u2019re too close to your business and customers. So, who should make the decision??<\/p>\n<p><strong>Your customers!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>When you test your prices, your patients will tell you what they\u2019re willing to spend.<\/p>\n<p>So go ahead, test it, don\u2019t be fearful &#8211; you\u2019ll soon find out \ud83d\ude09<\/p>\n<p>(And I bet most people won\u2019t even notice)\u2026<\/p>\n<h2>#8 Don\u2019t Become A \u2018Commodity\u2019<\/h2>\n<p>Most PT clinics allow for <strong>\u2018apples to apples\u2019 comparison.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">STOP!<\/span><\/p>\n<p>When you do that you\u2019re allowing customers to assume that all Physical Therapists do the same thing &#8211; which means they\u2019ll ring round alllll the other clinics in town and ask about the prices they charge.<\/p>\n<p>If you take part in this &#8211; <strong>you\u2019ll become a commodity<\/strong>, and people will assume they can get what you do &#8211; for less.<\/p>\n<p>Now, I know you\u2019ll be wondering&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>\u2018What are some ways I can avoid this<br \/>\nand charge MORE than other clinics??\u2019<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>So I\u2019ll let you in on one\u2026<\/p>\n<h2>#9 Change The Name Of Your Services<\/h2>\n<p>A simple way to remove yourself from the \u201capples to apples\u201d comparison trap<strong> is to get creative with the NAMES of your services.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>People LOVE walking into a shop, purchasing a product, and being certain of what they have bought &#8211; but the problem with PT is, that people <strong>are not really sure what they\u2019re buying &#8211; no one really knows what we do!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>By giving a patient the service they&#8217;re buying a name, they\u2019ll feel as if they\u2019re paying for something special that they\u2019re certain of (and it\u2019ll make compliance much more likely!)<\/p>\n<p>As well as PT services, do this\u2026<\/p>\n<h2>#10 Offer Something Else!<\/h2>\n<p>You may have heard of a<strong> \u201ccash up-sell\u201d\u2026<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A cash up-sell is an added bonus &#8211; once you\u2019ve been able to attract your Perfect Patient\u2026<\/p>\n<p>&#8230;once they see the value in what you do, and once they have experienced your unique service\u2026<\/p>\n<p>They usually <strong>want to come back for MORE.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Just think how easy it would be to offer a massage package or pilates class to a lady in her 50\u2019s\u2026 if your entire clinic is packed with these 50 year old ladies then it becomes very easy to offer this to them \u2013 and for you to be successful with it.<\/p>\n<p>It doesn\u2019t have to be massages, and it doesn\u2019t have to be 50 year old ladies\u2026<\/p>\n<p>\u2026what that is, is an example from my clinic. And it\u2019s so successful that our cash up-sell process covers just about all of my expenses\u2026 meaning that the actual PT service is 100% profit.<\/p>\n<p><strong>So in your clinic<\/strong> \u2013 once you know who your perfect patient is, you\u2019re then much more likely to be able to offer a Cross Fit athlete some sort of cash pay option that is in-line with keeping him fit and healthy so that he can stay in the gym.<\/p>\n<p><strong>To sum it up:<\/strong> you can only raise profits in \u201c3\u201d ways:<\/p>\n<p>1. Increase the number of people who buy from you<br \/>\n2. Increase the amount they spend with you<\/p>\n<p>And,<\/p>\n<p>3.
