The Impact Tour<\/a> has made it\u2019s way to the East Coast.<\/p>\n

As I write this to you I\u2019m in a gorgeous little town in Orlando called \u201cCelebration\u201d – sipping on an early morning coffee at Starbucks watching the sun come up over the lake.<\/p>\n

(Headed to \u201cTampa Bay\u201d next – coming to meet me?)<\/p>\n

On the flight over here yesterday I had chance to reflect on a few things from the West Coast Tour\u2026<\/p>\n

One of the main things that stood out for me was a conversation that I had with \u201cAndrew Vertson\u201d<\/strong> (top PT owner at Intecore PT in Orange Count)\u2026<\/p>\n

Here\u2019s the story:<\/strong><\/p>\n

We took our kids to Disney LAND (Anaheim) on Friday just gone\u2026<\/p>\n

\u2026and while we were there, he showed me an email from a \u201cprospective patient\u201d\u2026<\/p>\n

Now this patient had opted in (online) from a newspaper ad that I had recently wrote for Andrew\u2026<\/p>\n

The ad was ALL about how he could help people with low back pain – avoid back surgery – and live a life without pills.<\/p>\n

(Simple stuff that we PTs are really good at).<\/p>\n

Anyhow\u2026<\/p>\n

The lady (in her 50s), had requested the Free Report that Andrew was offering in his newspaper ad\u2026<\/p>\n

She had read \u201c6\u201d emails<\/strong> in his follow up sequence\u2026<\/p>\n

And replied to the \u201c7th\u201d<\/strong> while he was in-line for \u201cIt\u2019s a small world\u201d\u2026<\/p>\n

Her response?<\/p>\n

Well, basically, Andrew got chapter and Verse about how fearful she was about having to \u201cgo down the surgery route\u201d if she doesn\u2019t do something soon.<\/p>\n

Her one question in the lengthy email, was this:<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cCan you help me avoid surgery\u201d.<\/em><\/p>\n

His reply?<\/p>\n

\u201cYes\u2026 we help people avoid surgery all the time\u201d.<\/em><\/p>\n

Her response?<\/p>\n

\u201cCan I have an appointment please\u201d\u2026<\/em><\/p>\n

(Not a single mention of the word \u201cPT\u201d or \u201cpain\u201d.)<\/p>\n

The lesson to be learned in this??:<\/strong><\/p>\n

Having a real marketing system allows you to acquire new patients – even when you\u2019re at Disney Land with your kids.<\/p>\n

And, if you are moving into a world of trying to acquire new patients from direct access, via direct marketing, it can NEVER be about PT.<\/p>\n

It has to be about them – and there internal problems and fears.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Once they start the relationship by wanting some help for an internal problem – such as avoiding surgery – never stop talking about it until the problem is fixed\u2026<\/p>\n

It\u2019ll be PT that\u2019ll fix it but that\u2019s what they need to know at the beginning…<\/p>\n

Take your car to the garage today – they won\u2019t tell you what machines they\u2019re using to fix your brakes and nor do you care…<\/p>\n

All you want to know is that your car stops 3 feet from the one in front as it breaks sharply.<\/p>\n

(Your patients are no different).<\/p>\n

Anyhow\u2026<\/p>\n

I gotta\u2019 dash\u2026<\/p>\n

Came out without my suncream and I think this \u201chalf-Irish\u201d skin of mine might need to get out of the hot Florida sun, before it turns red.<\/p>\n
