In the last 5 days I\u2019ve traveled from “San Diego” to “LA” via train\u2026<\/p>\n

\u2026flew to \u201cSeattle\u201d and hopped over to \u201cSpokane\u201d – and as I write this to you I\u2019m again sat in the airport of the Emerald City, about to jet back to San Diego to see my two little boys! \ud83d\ude09<\/p>\n

(It\u2019s been an IMPACTFUL fews days).<\/p>\n

My exact location is a Chillis\u2019 restaurant (Gate D4), I\u2019ve got a cold draft, 16oz IPA in my eye line staring back at me waiting to be sipped, and I\u2019m watching \u201cCNN\u201d on one screen – and something that looks like Football (but not as I know it) on the other TV screen.<\/p>\n

And it\u2019s what (or WHO) is on TV, that I want to write about today.<\/p>\n

What is it??<\/p>\n

The Race for the White House, of course\u2026<\/p>\n

It\u2019s dominating the conversations of everywhere I am and whenever I\u2019m quizzed on it by the endless Uber Drivers that I\u2019ve shared a ride with lately – I give my ten cents worth on it.<\/p>\n

Not that my opinion really matters – but everyone asks me\u2026<\/p>\n

\u201cYou Brits must think we are crazy <\/em><\/strong>
\nwith what\u2019s going on with Donald<\/em><\/strong>
\nand Hillary\u2026?\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

My reply?<\/p>\n

\u201cI think it\u2019s perfectly normal\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

(Gasp!)<\/p>\n

Why?<\/p>\n

Well, because we live in the most emotional of times\u2026<\/p>\n

And for the first time ever, what\u2019s really going on is one of the candidates has entered the race as a \u201cprofessional marketer\u201d\u2026<\/strong><\/p>\n

(Has been Marketing for Attention for years).<\/p>\n

Saying emotional things\u2026<\/p>\n

Connecting with emotional human beings\u2026<\/p>\n

And when you say emotional things to emotional human beings, guess what happens?<\/p>\n

They make decisions – and take action.<\/strong><\/p>\n

(Maybe not the action you agree with – but they take action).<\/p>\n

The point?<\/p>\n

And the lesson to be learned for PT\u2019s?<\/p>\n

Every time you run an ad that says:<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m a PT, here\u2019s my website, here\u2019s my number – give me a call if you are in pain\u2026\u201d<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

You\u2019re running a LOGICAL<\/strong> ad.<\/p>\n

In theory, it SHOULD work.<\/p>\n

The word \u201cpain\u201d, should be emotional enough to make them (your patients) move and pick up the phone.<\/p>\n

(But it doesn\u2019t).<\/p>\n

External pain is NOT enough for most people – like 97% – living with the types of things we can help with to take action.<\/p>\n

So what does (motivate them)?<\/p>\n

Well, how about something like:<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen you have low-back pain –<\/em><\/strong>
\nand you live on pills –<\/em><\/strong>
\nyou really don\u2019t have much<\/em><\/strong>
\nquality of life\u2026\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

Impressed?<\/p>\n

(My patients often are too).<\/p>\n

Because words like that, put in the right order and down on paper, IS what\u2019ll hit an internal cord.<\/strong><\/p>\n

And when that INTERNAL PAIN<\/strong> gets spoken to – that\u2019s when you are really in the RACE to get duly elected as the go-to PT in your small town\u2026<\/p>\n

It\u2019s not rocket science\u2026<\/p>\n

It\u2019s just having the ability to side-step everything that anyone’s ever told you about \u201chow to market your service\u201d\u2026<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u2026and get on the campaign bus that bangs the drum of the thing that you REALLY do to help people.<\/p>\n

(Which is NOT, to end pain).<\/strong><\/p>\n

Anyhoo\u2026<\/p>\n

It\u2019s much easier than you think- and there\u2019s no \u201csuper-pac\u201d needed to endorse your campaign.<\/p>\n
